Abstract
This research explores the impact of safety culture on workers' safety performance within the Nigerian oil and gas industry. Employing a mixed-method approach, the study incorporates both qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. The primary data, obtained through a survey questionnaire distributed among frontline workers in various oil and gas companies in Nigeria, aims to understand their perceptions of safety culture and its influence on safety behaviour. The research emphasizes the importance of safety management techniques in fostering safety participation and compliance, drawing conclusions from the study's findings. Furthermore, demographic factors, particularly work experience, are identified as significant contributors to safety involvement. The study underscores the critical role of safety culture in the prevention of workplace accidents and advocates for effective safety information flow and incentives. Overall, this research contributes valuable insights to the enhancement of safety practices within the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
