Criminal Law (LLM) / Ποινικό Δίκαιο (LLM)

The present academic assignment is concerned with one of the most crucial issues of our time and the way such issues are handled under the Cyprus legal system. These are the offences against morals or the offences against sexual freedom, more widely and commonly known as sexual offences. These are the offences that are now unfortunately plaguing our society and are considered to be the highest form of humiliation of human dignity. In this assignment these offences along with their handling will be explained and analyzed through the Penal Code Cap. 154 of the Republic of Cyprus, as well as through other specific statutes of legislation. Such offences will be discussed in relation to adults, as well as under age people and people with intellectual and/or mental disability. The legislative and case law evolution of those offences will be explained and the sufficiency as well as the inadequacy of the current Cyprus legal system will be discussed in relation to such offences. This is clearly a huge chapter concerning the sufficiency of the Cyprus Criminal Law, the way both perpetrators and victims are treated, the sufficiency or not of the protective measured for victims, the suppression, prevention and fight against such offences.
